Pain and
Confusion and
Suffering and
Despair and
From it
We fell to
Rise again…

I stood at
Ground zero as
Smoke
Lifted to
The sky
Cutting through
Smoldering
Steel beams
Raised
Out stretched in
A cross to
Represent
Peace for
The living and
Rest for
The dead
I’ve been here before…
I will
Never forget
The moment
My feet
Touched
Pavement and
Truth
Entered
My heart
And as
I witnessed
Bakeries
Turned into
Make shift
Med clinics and
Buildings as
Dust
I was
Awakened to
The depth of
Suffering
We induce as
Human
Beings
I felt
The suffering
And I
Became
We…
I am we and
We’ve been here before…
And as we
Watched life and
Limb being lost in
Boston as
A marathon
Tradition was
Scorched by
Bombs and
Brothers being
Without
Heart and
Full of
Fear I have to ask…
How many times
Will we
Stand in
Our sorrow on
The cold
Pavement that
Stretches to
Meet
Destruction in
Rubble and
Devastation of
Human heart and
Life?
How many times
Do hopes and
Dreams and
Tears
Have to
Fall?
How many times
Do we
Have to
Suffer
The collective
Loss of
Life of
Home of
Family of
Past and
Present and
Future potential to
Be at our
Best in
Community in
Love with
All life?
How many times
Will we
Keep coming
Together to
Lift up
What others
Tear down—
Our soul
Our spirit
The spirit of
Humanity?
How many times
Will peace
Be broken
Split into
Two?
Your peace.
My peace.
